Carlos de la Guardia: It’s true! This caveman used Zope3 with Grok

Grok developers claim that even
cavemen can now use Zope3. I wanted to test that assertion with a little web project of my own, since given my neanderthal-like understanding of Zope3
technologies I consider myself a perfect candidate.

I had started a site called Webexperiments a year ago, as a place to post my frequent tests of web development tools and javascript gadgets, but managed to post only one experiment since then, so I decided to revive the site using Grok.

Well, I may be a caveman, but now I am a caveman with a brand new site. To make a long story short, www.webexperiments.org is now a Grok powered site (hey Martijn, what about a powered-by-grok logo?). You can find the whole story and download the complete application here.

I have to say that I liked the experience. With grok, I upgraded from using hand coded html to a dynamic web site with an admin interface in one day, with absolutely no Ruby or Rails involved.

Gerry Kirk: How To: Save Money and Hassle on Travel

200708250659

I don’t get out of the house much these days, but for those of you who travel to sprints, conferences or fun exotic locations, Web Worker Samuel Dean has some tips for using Kayak.com and Farecast.com to get the best deal on your travel options.

In a nutshell: use Kayak’s slider tool to quickly adjust departure and arrival times to find additional options and check Farecast’s price trend on your chosen fare to make sure today is a good day to buy.
